Movie badness

July 30, 2010

I call myself an entertainment writer. I guess that’s what I am. I write about entertainment news, I review tv shows (okay I review A tv show), I review albums and interview musicians. I suppose that qualifies me as an entertainment writer.

I fail a little when it comes to movies though. In my own mind, I know a lot about movies. I’ve seen hundreds, maybe thousands. But compared to other people my knowledge is shocking. My tastes in film might not be the best but I know what I like. I know what looks good, can spot bad acting and failing plotlines, complain when a comedy is not actually funny.

But there is occasionally good that can come from bad movies. Sometimes they are so awful that they become entertaining. I’m sure everyone has settled down in front of a film and thought, “this is crap” but continued to watch and found that in spite of the lameness, you are enjoying it.

Take a look at this list of  movies that are so bad, they’re good. Feel free to leave your favourites in the comments!

  1. I think you do a marvelous job, I enjoy coming here xx

  2. I can’t believe I missed this post when I was cruising your blog before! I love movies. I rock at Scene It. Have you ever played it?

A movie has to be pretty bad for me to turn it off.

Rocky Horror Picture Show is such a fun movie. I went to a showing with audience participation a couple years ago, and it was great!

Snakes on a Plane…I used to always say, “All Samuel L. Jackson movies are good.” But now that’s always the case. To promote the movie there was a website that you could enter a phone number, and then a recording of Samuel Jackson would call you telling you to be careful or something. It was cool.

    • Nopes, never played Scene It but I’ve always wanted to give it a try!

Live Rocky Horror is the SO much fun! I went to a stage version a few years ago – dressed as Magenta *lol* – and it was great!
